About Coach Moe

Moe Tarrant has been coaching hockey for 20 years at all levels, from mites through college, and has enjoyed success with both boys’ and girls’ teams. Moe's teams have won numerous championships including the Founders League (prep school), Atlantic Women's Hockey League, the Brampton Canada Tournament (the largest women's tournament in the world), and USA Hockey State, Regional and National championships.

For the last ten years, Moe has led the Connecticut Stars. In his third year with the program, the Stars won the USA Hockey National Championship at the 15 & Under level. A Stars team has returned to the Nationals almost every year since.

In addition to the Stars, Moe currently coaches the Greenwich Academy varsity team.  In a short time period, Moe has elevated the GA hockey program to the top of NEPSAC Division II, winning the Division title for the last three years.  He is also the owner of Cutting Edge Hockey, which offers summer camps and clinics for elite players.

Moe’s credentials include a Masters Level in coaching from USA Hockey and participation in the mentorship program for the US Women’s National Hockey Team. Moe played at the Berkshire School and Nasson College.

Moe’s list of accomplishments is lengthy; however, he is most proud of his work helping girls get into prep schools and colleges.  His ability to guide student athletes in the right direction is a direct result of years spent coaching and teaching.  Moe’s philosophies and “words of wisdom” play an important role in his coaching, both on and off the ice.

“A child doesn’t care how much you know until they know how much you care.”

“In life, pray for what you want, work for what you need.”

“No matter how tall our players are, they must do their own growing.”

"You can get everything in life you want if you will just help enough people get what they want."

"Success is not to be measured by the championships you win, but by how people talk about you after you win or lose."
